the last temptation of CHRIST

a film by martin scorsese in 1988…

a controversial one if i may add…

truthfully, i would not be tempted to watch this movie if it wasn’t mentioned (briefly) in ‘the da vinci code’. i happened to have the dvd (arthur asked me to buy it) and so i watched last night and this afternoon (juz now). why it took me two days to watch? well, the dvd is in such a bad condition that it really made me struggle to watch it throughout.

the movie itself, as it claims, is not based on the bible but on a book with the same title by nikos kazantzakis. it portrays Jesus as humanly as possible. At first a confused man, not sure what to do with God’s calling, and finally able to resist the last temptation from Lucifer, just before He died on the cross. Another interesting point here is Judas’ role in Jesus crucification. Here, the film portrays him as Jesus’ strongest student who loves Him very much that he was willing to play as the traitor.

But i suppose it was the ‘last temptation’ that made the movie so controversial. juz watch it with an open mind…like reading ‘the da vinci code’ :-D

whatever the world may say , we always know that He is our Idol, our Role model. He is, afterall, the Son of God and our Saviour.
